Wow what a busy month we've had! May started with a trip to Girona in Spain for the flower and art festival.
A little known flower event set in such a hidden gem, the old town is one of the best preserved I have visited.
The streets are mainly car free and full of beautiful small shops, independent businesses everything from the baker, butcher,grocery shop to ceramicists, cafes and gelato.
The Festival is organised in over 100 locations around the town. Well organised and easy to locate all the installations. Armed with the free map and good pair of comfortable shoes we walked across the bridges, up the hills and down into basements all decorated with fabulous flowers and plants. Many of the private houses are open for this week so you can see what you often think what's behind that door!
A week later we found ourselves in Chelsea Flower Show. The pinnacle of the gardening year, it was as wonderful as ever.
The floristry exhibits were inspiring, from the professional florists displays of floral kites and the colleges with the decorated Tuktuk vehicle.
Truly a start to the summer calendar looking forward to the bright and cheerful flowers to follow. As well as the show ground itself we walked around the Belgravia and Chelsea streets, where a lot of the shops and restaurants decorate their windows and outside areas in themes of books and animals. Everything from giraffes lions and zebras fashioned from gerbera, carnations and chrysanthemum to wonderful hydrangea created a rainbow outside the fabulous shop of Neil Stein florist.
